Trent Alexander-Arnold’s incredible strike into the top corner at Stamford Bridge yesterday was nothing short of top drawer.
When Mo Salah rolled the ball backwards to set him up, there was no doubt that the powerful shot, reminiscent of something that Steven Gerrard would produce, was going to end up flying past Kepa Arrizabalaga.
It set the Reds up for the win, which restored the five-point gap to Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table and rounded off the weekend perfectly.
Alexander-Arnold explained on Sky Sports (via LiverpoolFC.com) post-match: “Hendo wanted it at first and then I think he thought it was a bit too close for him.
“I discussed with Mo that I wanted it rolled to make the angle a little bit better and maybe confuse the ‘keeper a little bit, and I’ve been able to put it away.
“I thought it was too close to go over the wall, I didn’t know if the wall was going to jump so I couldn’t go under it, I had to go ‘keeper’s side. It was a good roll and I just tried to put it as hard as I can that side with a bit of placement.”

In an interview earlier the same day, Alexander-Arnold had mentioned that he wanted to score more goals for the Reds, and immediately got started on that pledge.
He is already the perfect modern full-back, but add some more goals to his game and Alexander-Arnold will elevate himself to another level again.
