Liverpool chief Peter Moore says we’re are back on our ‘perch’

Anfield chief executive Peter Moore has claimed that Liverpool are back on their perch, referring to the famous phrase uttered by former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

When the Scot took charge of United 1986, he said that his first job as boss at Old Trafford was to “knock Liverpool right off their perch”.

He did so, but the Red Devils’ reign didn’t last long enough for them to peel away from the Reds in terms of total major honours won – as both clubs are level on 56.

But Moore, a lifelong Liverpool fan who was appointed by the club in 2017, thinks the Champions League winners have regained their old status.

We are back on our perch, as we famously say,he’s quoted as saying by the BBC. “What the Fenway Sports Group have done at Liverpool over the past nine years is nothing short of miraculous.

They have gone through ups and downs but have stayed the course and never taken a penny out of the club.

Liverpool bounce back also has in no small part to do with Jurgen Klopp and his reign at Anfield. He’s only been with us for a few years, but the German and his team have turned the tables.

The Reds are now arguably the best team in England (certainly only Manchester City can compare), and it’s up to everyone else to play catch up.

Let’s hope we keep our neck out in front for many years to come.
