Mohamed Salah fuming with Egyptian FA after FIFA’s Best Awards

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is – once again – involved with an argument with the Egyptian FA, after the authority failed to vote in FIFA’s Best Awards this week.

The vote for the FIFA player of the season award is offered to the coach and captain of each nation under the organisation’s umbrella, along a member of the media.

But Egypt’s FA now face an investigation because even though captain Ahmed Elmohamady and coach Shawky Ghareeb both voted for Salah, those votes were not registered.

A vote from Egyptian journalist Hany Danial was counted, but he had opted for Sadio Mane and had Mo down in third place.

Although this will have annoyed Salah to no end, the winger posted an update on Twitter which showed the star standing proud in front of the Egyptian flag.

Opinion

You’ve got to feel for Mo with this one – he’s universally appreciate in the world of football, but it always seems to be the Egyptian FA that tries to humble the winger.

Whether the failure to get the votes to FIFA were a genuine error, or something more malicious, remains to be seen, but Mo has since removed mention of the Egyptian national team from his social media accounts.

It’s a messy situation, and for the sake of football fans in Salah’s homeland, let’s hope is gets cleared up soon.
