“We knew Liverpool won again” – Guardiola talks about LFC after City beat Everton

Liverpool and Manchester City are quite clearly going to battle it out for the Premier League title this season, just as we did last year.

Jurgen Klopp joked that he’d rather the Reds win eight games 1-0 than one game 8-0, and Pep has now responded by complimenting Liverpool.

The Spaniard admitted that they were aware the Reds had opened up an eight-point gap prior to their kick-off, and nerves did seem to be showing in the first half at Goodison Park.

But City managed to over the Blues – imagine my shock – and Guardiola minimised the Reds’ accomplishment to just a ‘five [point lead] in September’.

We knew Liverpool won again and the gap was eight points, so big,he’s quoted as saying by GOAL. “So, we won three points and it’s five [points] in September, with a lot of points to play for.

We know which team we’re playing right now – they are seven victories in a row, champions of Europe and playing good football.

This is our rival and we know we can’t drop too many points because last season they lost just one game.

The season is long, we have to keep going and be there, maybe we can push them a little bit more and try to make the third Premier League in a row.

It’s only seven games in, and it seems as if Liverpool have already got under Pep’s skin, doesn’t it? Saying that, we are literally the only club stopping them from having an easy ride domestically.

While City and Liverpool aren’t historical rivals, Guardiola and Klopp are, and it seems to be creeping into the two clubs.
