City fans charged for throwing objects, making the Kopparberg rage seem a little silly…

Before we start, we should state that we don’t (or have never) condone throwing a bottle of Kopparberg at a team bus.

The fans that did that against Manchester City in the Champions League a few seasons back behaved moronically and should have been punished.

But the manner in which the City press, and many fans, exaggerated the incident was incredible.

(If only quite as much attention was paid towards the human rights abuses in the UAE, a state which effectively owns the club – but that’s for another time.)

Today, City have been charged by UEFA for throwing objects at Dinamo Zagreb supporters midweek.

Obviously, this doesn’t mean all City fans behave like this – or that the club should be thrown out of a competition – or warrant any other hyperbolic, biased reaction.

But it would be interesting if the Manchester Evening News publish a similar story on the behaviour of the supporters to the one they did in September 2018, entitled:

‘Manchester City’s team coach was bombarded with missiles, and police officers were injured – but nobody will be brought to justice’
