“Maybe I’ll play for Liverpool” – Karius breaks silence on life after Besiktas

Goalkeeper Loris Karius has finally discussed his potential future, after a weak start in the Turkish league with Besiktas.

The German is still under contract with Liverpool and it is entirely possible that he may return to the fold at Anfield, but I’d guess Jurgen Klopp has other ideas.

Karius will be 27 next summer, and in a stage of his career where he really should have found a club that works for him.

Whichever way it goes, Loris is confident that he’ll be playing for a decent team after his loan spell with Besiktas comes to an end.

I have a loan until the end of the season and then I will see, back to Liverpool or somewhere else in England or somewhere in Germany, you never know,he told the Guardian.

Right now my focus is on playing games here every week and then we’ll see. I’ve enjoyed my time here. Of course if you play in England you are a bit more in the spotlight.

But it’s a good club here, of course with some problems now and then. It was not always easy the last year and a bit since I’m here but overall the first season was quite good.

The Premier League is the best league so it’s interesting of course but also I am still under contract at Liverpool, so maybe I’ll play for Liverpool again, you never know. It’s difficult to say now.

If it’s not Liverpool it will be another decent team I am sure, so I am not worried.

It’s easy to laugh at Karius saying he may play for Liverpool again, but there is a huge positive to those words coming out of his mouth.

When he left Anfield for Besiktas, his confidence was on the floor – he’d effectively just cost us the best chance we’ve had since 2007 to win the Champions League.

Of course, the lad was concussed and shouldn’t have stayed on the pitch, but that wouldn’t have mattered much in his mind.

These fresh comments tell me that Karius is feeling confident again. I don’t believe he’ll play for the Reds (maybe just pre-season in 2020), but I do think he’ll be alright.

I hope he gets himself a move back to Germany, or maybe Spain or Italy, and he hits the ground running at his new club.
