Jurgen Klopp explains limited preparation time for Leicester clash – and makes the win all the more impressive

Jurgen Klopp says the Reds only had ’20 minutes’ to prepare to face Leicester City in the Premier League, having played Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League on Wednesday night at Anfield.

After a gruelling encounter against the Austrians, which turned out to be far more problematic than it looked set to be around a third of the way through the game, the Reds would have had a warm-down session on Thursday before attention turned to Leicester on Friday.

According to the Liverpool ECHO, Klopp said: “We had a 20-minute session to prepare for Leicester and decided to change our shape.

“We changed formation a bit, we brought Mo into the centre and Bobby and Sadio more in a number 10 position, just to give the opponent who had trained [something different to think about].”

Reds fans are all saying the same thing about the Sadio Mane ‘dive’

With Sadio Mane moving onto the right-hand side, allowing Mo Salah to play through the middle, the Senegalese winger had one of his best games of the season.

He scored the first goal with an excellent finish after a classy through-ball from James Milner, while he also won the penalty late on that Milner took and netted the winning goal from.

The Reds face Manchester United next in the Premier League, but not before another international break.
