Barca still owe Liverpool a jaw-dropping sum for Coutinho

Sides rarely pay for players up front in their entirety, but Barcelona, almost two years after signing Coutinho, still owe £84m for the Brazilian magician they offloaded this summer on loan to Bayern!

Liverpool are due £24m of this sum by the end of this season, according to the Mirror, having received £105m up front – with the remaining £60m which showed up in Barca’s accounts due to a third-party lender.

By our sums, that leaves £13m-odd of the £142m we agreed to sell Coutinho for (BBC Sport) in January 2018 unaccounted for – which is presumably for performance-based add-ons.

With Phil in Germany, perhaps we won’t receive this – but it’s not an especially big deal considering what we already did with the Coutinho money.

Liverpool bought Virgil van Dijk and Alisson after offloading our former no.10 and went on to win the Champions League as a result.

This term, we’re eight wins from eight and are top of the Premier League table.

Coutinho has started life in the Bundesliga excellently, and wholeheartedly, we wish him well.

We made his decision to join Barca look stupid last season in the CL semis, so whats the point in holding a grudge?
