‘He’s got a point…’ Sam Allardyce backs idea that Klopp has become ‘arrogant’

There was some serious nonsense spoken on talkSPORT at the weekend, which shouldn’t surprise us one bit, really.

Radio presenter Simon Jordan, the former owner of Crystal Palace, claimed that Jurgen Klopp is becoming ‘infected by the disease of arrogance,’ purely because he criticised Hamzer Choudhury for the tackle which saw Mo Salah limp off the field at full-time.

And now Sam Allardyce has supported the suggestion, bizarrely claiming Trent Alexander-Arnold’s accidental tackle on Youri Tielemans was more dangerous.

“He’s got a point,” he told Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

“If you are going to dig somebody else’s player out, you have to be very careful, because you are leaving yourself open for criticism when you don’t need to.

“You have to be very careful when you come in front of the cameras.

“And it is not an easy task now; the questions are always controversial-style questions first, rather than the beauty of the game first.

“That is the sad thing about it.

“I saw the Trent Alexander-Arnold incident, and you could arguably say that was worse. That could have done more damage.

“But the manager is bound to stick up for his players, and he’s going to be upset at losing his top player. I think that is why he said it.”

Big Sam has been out of a job since Everton fired him in 2018 and we can’t see him returning to top flight action any time soon.

His style of management seemed fairly archaic for some time and having taken such a lengthy break, we’re not sure his stock is higher enough to take a Premier League position anymore.

Klopp on the other hand has just been named the world’s best by FIFA after winning the Champions League last season.

As a result, we’re not sure the German will worry about Allardyce’s opinion too much!

The better Liverpool do, the more criticism will come our way. Part and parcel of being the biggest and the best.
