Micah Richards predicts forthcoming Liverpool downfall; offers advice to Guardiola

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has predicted that Liverpool’s bubble will burst, but the Citizens must make one change if they’re to improve.

Following the injury to America Laporte, the former England centre half has said that Pep Guardiola must pair up two pacey defenders.

On Liverpool, Richards predicts that a couple of injuries to the Reds’ star players could land them in hot water.

The only thing I fear for Liverpool is if they pick up a couple of injuries,” he told BBC Radio 5 (as per MEN). “Man City are a bit short in the defensive area at the moment but as a contrast if Liverpool lost Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino they would just not be the same team.”

He’s right, to be fair – an injury for any of our front three and most if the first team would dramatically change how we perform.

City’s performances without Laporte are very much an example of that – and perhaps a precursor to how well we’d cope without Virgil van Dijk

On City, Richard’s believes that injecting a little pace into the back four is precisely what Gurdiola needs to do.

It will be interesting to see if he brings Kyle Walker into the centre-back role only because I watched the game and Man City had a lot of the ball but on the counter attack Wolves looked very dangerous.

If the centre-backs haven’t got pace you are going to get exposed. Maybe bringing Walker across just with his pace could be an option.

There is now an eight point gap between Liverpool and City in the Premier League table, and while there are 30 games left to play, people are talking.

If the Reds can survive the season without any long-standing injuries to star players, then surely 2020 is looking like a great opportunity to finally lift the league title after all these years.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though – as I said, there’s 30 games remaining and a whole lot of games to get through elsewhere.
