German Expert ‘expects’ Liverpool to be in Sancho 2020 market – due to finances & Klopp’s persuasiveness

There’s always lots of interesting snippets on the various Liverpool FC podcasts out there.

We listen to both The Anfield Wrap and Anfield Index, but the Echo’s Blood Red is pretty good as well.

They’ve had German football expert Kevin Hatchard on – and he’s spoken in length about the ramifications surrounding a potential Jadon Sancho Liverpool transfer next summer.

Hatchard thinks we’ll be able to afford the English phenomenon and that Jurgen Klopp will be able to pull the winger back to the Premier League – but has stated the potential competition for places in our front-three could be an issue.

Liverpool already field Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in arguably the most potent attack in Europe – and have no desire or need to replace one of our superstars.

“So, if the money was right and Sancho was willing to come back to the Premier League I would expect Liverpool to be in that market.”

“The tricky thing is going to be is how do you convince him that he would have a genuine chance of being in the Liverpool line-up because Mo Salah operates in the position he does,” continued Hatchard.

“Sancho is very much on the right of a front three, so that would be a big decision for him to make.

“This is the tricky thing for Liverpool, because that front three is so clearly defined and so consistent and so durable, they’ve missed so few games between them how do you then convince a top, top player they’ve got a chance of being involved.

“That’s maybe where Jurgen Klopp comes in with his ability to talk players round and persuade players that that’s the move for them.

“Financially I think Liverpool could be in the mix for him, it’ll be interesting to see if that’s a move they pursuit.”

Sancho could always play alongside the current offence – with Salah moving centrally and Firmino to no10.

But we’d imagine the 19-year-old would initially be a rotation player to ease the burden from our forwards.

Currently, we rely on them very, very heavily for goals – and a serious injury to one of the trio would be catastrophic.

Manchester City, our biggest rivals, have Gabriel Jesus, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva capable of playing in the front-three – so have far, far better strength in depth.

If we’re to compete on four fronts for season after season, perhaps another world-beater is in order.
