Dani van der Moot, the Dutch striker, now 22 and plying his trade in the second division in his home country, says he turned down a ‘concrete’ offer from the Reds six years ago according to Sport Witness – and has regretted it ever since.
Van der Moot claims to have been given a tour of Anfield, Melwood and the city of Liverpool, but ended up staying at PSV, where he played until he was released last year.
Then-Reds boss Brendan Rodgers reportedly wanted to sign Van der Moot as soon as possible but the forward was not convinced.
He said to Elf Voetbal: “If I then regret something, it is that I have let Liverpool go. There were more clubs from abroad with interest, but Liverpool was the most concrete.
“They showed me what I could expect if I started playing football there. A beautiful day and a wonderful memory forever.”

Not many players have the courage to turn down an offer from the Reds, and while no reasons are provided as to why he stayed in the Netherlands, you almost have to respect the fact that he made what would have been a hard choice.
It is safe to say, though, that he will be looking back at that moment and thinking ‘what if’ for the rest of his life.
