Report claims Barcelona will not go for Reds man as Luis Suarez replacement – but want bizarre alternative

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are on the hunt for a Luis Suarez replacement – but will not be going for Roberto Firmino.

Instead, Manchester United man Marcus Rashford, who scored just 10 Premier League goals last season, is ahead of the Brazilian on their shortlist.

That’s clearly excellent news for the Reds – but it makes absolutely no sense from Barcelona’s perspective.

Tottenham forward Harry Kane is also named on the shortlist, while Paris Saint Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe is there too. They seem more likely and fitting alternatives to Firmino than Rashford.

Rashford is younger and is a decent player but has done nothing as of yet to be linked with a big-money move to Spain. The decision, if true, is perhaps also based on the fact that Firmino is highly unlikely to be let go by the Reds.

As weird as the shortlist is, it’s obviously great news for Reds supporters who should not have to worry about losing a key man.
