It’s the international break, and that means one thing: news outlets are looking for content to keep people engaged until the proper football returns.
Various quizzes and lists are normally the order of the day and this time, the Daily Mirror have stepped forward and put their necks on the line with a countdown of ‘the 50 greatest Premier League players of the decade: 2010-2019’.
Only things that happened this decade are taken into account, hence why Steven Gerrard (at number 30) is so low down the list, but eight players with Reds links are named in total.
The list is based on longevity, meaning those who have been in the league the longest do well, with success (both individual and collective) the other major barometer.

Philippe Coutinho is named at number 31, behind fellow Brazilian Roberto Firmino, who is now the top-scoring Brazilian player in Premier League history, and is placed at 26.
Two players that the Reds brought in from Southampton are next up, in Virgil van Dijk (24th) and Sadio Mane (23rd).
Mo Salah places 16th. He has only been playing for the Reds for two-and-a-bit seasons, but has won back-to-back Golden Boots and also played for a spell at Chelsea before that.
Luis Suarez is 10th, but the highest-placed Reds man is James Milner who comes in at number eight.
There are some surprises. For instance, Riyad Mahrez is ahead of Salah at 14, and also one place ahead of Jamie Vardy. He was brilliant for Leicester City in their title victory, but has not reached that level since and is often seen on the bench for Manchester City these days.
All of the top three are Manchester City players: Sergio Aguero tops the pile, ahead of David Silva and Vincent Kompany.
