The two Reds senior pros that Curtis Jones reminds Academy boss Alex Inglethorpe of

Liverpool’s Academy director Alex Inglethorpe says that 18-year-old midfielder Curtis Jones reminds him of both Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane, two of the senior players that the Scouser is hoping to emulate in the coming seasons.

The captain of the U23s under Neil Critchley, attacking midfielder Jones has been in excellent form this campaign. He has already notched five goals and six assists for the Reds this year.

Jones also played in the senior side’s victory at MK Dons in the Carabao Cup alongside fellow Academy stars Ki-Jana Hoever and Harvey Elliott.

Speaking about that game with The Athletic, Inglethorpe said: “Curtis was excellent in possession and looked a real threat.

“He has been outstanding in the U23s games so far this season and having that run of games has helped him. He’s got bigger, stronger and gained more experience.

“I think Curtis can play in two positions – left of the front three and in midfield, too. He’s possibly more Adam Lallana than Sadio Mane in terms of his approach and capabilities.”

If Jones can keep up the trajectory that he is currently on, then the Reds will have a very exciting prospect on their hands.

The next step in his development is probably a loan move to the Champinoship, in a similar move to the successful temporary switch Harry Wilson made to Derby County.
