Rivaldo oddly describes the ‘risk’ of Klopp’s upcoming selection

We’re not exactly sure why Rivaldo is discussing Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI for the Old Trafford clash!

It is the biggest club game on the planet, we suppose, and the Brazilian is discussing his countryman Alisson – in fairness.

Rivaldo reckons that starting Alisson after his lengthy lay-off is ‘risky,’ although he’s still backed the world’s best goalkeeper to shine should he get the nod, which he’s expected to.

“This is his first match in a few months and perhaps it could be a little risky to put him in to play in such a big match, but he is an experienced goalkeeper and he is certainly prepared to show his value if called upon,” Rivaldo told the Mirror.

“Every player loves to play in these kinds of matches. Of course, it would be better to have him fully match fit having played a few games already, but that’s not the case, however his experience and quality should be enough to mask that lack of sharpness.

“He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world right now and he is used to this kind of big event, so I believe he won’t have any problems with it and he will be as solid in Liverpool’s goal as he always is.”

Adrian has won all eight of the Premier League games he’s featured in, but Alisson is still a serious upgrade.

The Brazilian is much, much faster off his line – whereas Adrian got stuck in his box on occasion – to the visible annoyance of Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool are playing a high defensive line, so need the goalie to act as a sweeper behind.

Alisson’s traits are perfect for this, as he’s brave, composed, and superb with the ball at his feet.

Last term, Ali won the Golden Glove in both the Premier League and the Champions League – as well the Copa America with his country.

In 2019/20, Liverpool have secured just two clean-sheets so far – so we hope Alisson’s return will enable this number to grow – starting on Sunday at Old Trafford.
