Liverpool kit battle latest: Nike provides hint as to likely court decision

Liverpool are at the centre of a court battle at the current time between potential kit manufacturers Nike and New Balance.

There are still two days to go in the case, which, having sat on Friday, will resume on Monday following the weekend, but there might already be a clue as to which way it might swing.

According to The Athletic, Nike have already spent $6 million on the material needed to produce next season’s Reds kit – something they would be unlikely to do without being fairly confident.

Furthermore, the Reds’ relationship with New Balance is said to already be ‘beyond repair’ no matter what the outcome of the court case is.

That could be good news for the Reds, with the Nike deal expected to be far more lucrative. There is more risk involved, but as long as success is sustained on the pitch, the club will be better off financially.

Continuing the on-pitch success for the Reds begins tomorrow with a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
