Klopp says United play bad football and have done for four years

Jurgen Klopp says Manchester United have been a defensive side ever since he came to England in 2015.

The Liverpool boss was talking after today’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, which saw Adam Lallana bag late on to seal us a point after Marcus Rashford gave our bitter rivals a first-half lead, despite a clear foul on Divock Origi in the buildup.

After we levelled, United sat very deep and parked the bus, while in the first-half they only really forced opportunities on the counter attack.

Klopp was not impressed by the tactics on display at Old Trafford.

“This game everybody builds it up like a mountain,” Klopp explained to Sky Sports, which you can see in the video below.

“Ever since I’ve been in England it’s been the same. One team has only to defend and the other team has to make the game.

“We take the point, it’s better than no point, but it’s not that big a deal that we won something.”

United are a poor outfit, and Klopp’s Liverpool always force the play – but in fairness – we were not very good creatively ourselves today.

The midfield was poor, and only Gini Wijnaldum of the starting three came out of the game with any credit.

Fabinho had his worst game of the season and Jordan Henderson didn’t show up, either.

As a result, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lallana came on – and our passing noticeably sharpened up.

We reckon one or maybe two of those three will not start the game in midweek with Genk.
