Liverpool could end five-year wait with win against Man Utd this weekend

I can’t recall a time when Liverpool were such strong favourites going into a game against Manchester United, but here we are.

The Reds are dominating in Europe, and are currently perched atop the Premier League table, but facing off against our fierce rivals is anything but predictable.

We’ve actually only managed to beat them twice in five years, but both of those games were at home – I’m sure the recent 3-1 win at Anfield sticks in the memory.

But the five-year wait I referred to in the title of this article signals our last win over United at Old Trafford – a confident 3-0 drumming which I’m sure also sticks in the memory.

United have always been that team for Liverpool, no matter how well either team is currently playing, they’ll always turn up against us.

Over the years, we’ve seen some impressive sides in the Red Devils’ famous kit, but the team we face off against this weekend is perhaps the weakest in recent memory.

With stars like David De Gea and Paul Pogba being the only notable world-class players, the usual ‘combined XIs’ ahead of the fixture have been stacked with our players.

We joked about it on social media too, but this weekend is genuinely our best opportunity to grab that elusive win at Old Trafford that we’ve missed for five years.
