Didi Hamann confirms Liverpool have ‘great interest’ in Jadon Sancho

Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has claimed he’s aware of our serious interest in Borussia Dortmund flyer Jadon Sancho.

The England winger was recently fined by the Bundesliga giants for returning back to his club late from international duty – who also admitted that he’ll depart Germany sooner rather than later.

Hamann, who starred for Bayern Munich, Germany and Liverpool throughout his career, is known for his no-nonsense approach to the media – so when he’s making an unequivocal claim such as this one – people should probably listen.

“What I hear is that Liverpool have great interest,” the former midfielder told Sky Germany.

“I would imagine that next summer they could become one of the biggest interested parties.

“He’s from Manchester City and I do not know if he would come back again, and it’s a thing for Manchester United, too, if they’ve ever been to the rivals.”

Sancho would be the perfect player to come in and help our front-three next season.

We saw at the weekend against Manchester United that when one of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane or Mo Salah (it was the Egyptian King, this time) isn’t fit – there is too much onus on the other two to create – especially when we pick our workman-like midfield of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum.

Next summer is a very long way off – but we’d imagine future recruitment plans are already being drawn.

What’s nice is that we’re confident should our interest be genuine, Jurgen Klopp will have the pulling power to get his man.
