Man City dealt fresh injury blow; Rodri & Zinchenko to miss Liverpool game

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Rodri and Aleks Zinchenko will both miss the big game against Liverpool next month, as per the MEN.

The Spanish holding midfielder picked up an injury during City’s win over Atalanta in the Champions League, and the fixture with the Reds will come too soon for Zinchenko.

While injuries aren’t ever something to be celebrated, City will certainly be weakened by the latest news and it may be something Liverpool can take advantage of.

Pep does have John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi to call upon again, which will come as a boost for their squad as they’ve been lacking in defensive options.

Fernandinho has stepped in at centre back since Aymeric Laporte picked up an injury, and has been missed in midfield as a result of this.

City are set to take on Aston Villa this weekend, while Liverpool are up against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield – an opportunity our title rivals will surely want to take.

We’ve got a decent chance to actually keep our lead at the top – while Spurs are the best team we’ll have played this season at the weekend, but Anfield is a red hot cauldron.
