“He’s always sacrificing himself” – Sadio Mane is buzzing with selfless Bobby Firmino

Roberto Firmino is perhaps the best false nine in the world at the minute, with some of the performances he’s put in over the last two years.

Bobby very rarely takes the selfish route on the pitch, and likes to create space and opportunities for his team-mates – especially Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.

The Brazilian played through a stunning rabona for the Senegalese star against Genk – it’d have been up for the Puskas award, if it had went in!

But it’s just an example of why Sadio is absolutely buzzing to be playing along such a talented and selfless player in Bobby.

It was really, really great skill from Bobby. I was trying to score but the defender was behind me and I lost my step because he pushed me a bit. That’s why it was a little bit complicated for me to score the goal,he told the club’s official site.

You can’t expect it because you don’t know him. I know him very well, I’m training with him every single day and I know his quality, I know what he can do. I’m never surprised, I’m just looking forward to it all the time on the pitch.

He’s doing it very well – for me, for Mo and for all the other players. He’s a really great player. All credit to Bobby. People are seeing it now, but the staff and team – everybody – were [always] happy with Bobby because he’s always sacrificing himself for the team.

He’s doing well, scoring, giving assists and working hard for the team. It’s good people appreciate him now [externally] – like it should be.

I can’t put it better than Mane did, to be honest – it’s great that people are now wising up to just how good Firmino is.

For years, the Brazilian has been overlooked just because he doesn’t bang in goals every game, but that’s not his role in the team.

And we’ve now seen a few times in the last few months that Liverpool are simply not capable of playing as effectively without Bobby in the side.
