Former Red Jason McAteer has given his plaudits to Jurgen Klopp for bringing in Fabinho – who he believes has helped complete his “jigsaw” at Liverpool.
He’s quoted as saying that anchorman Fabinho is one of the best players in his position, and has compared him to Chelsea superstar N’Golo Kante.
“When [Fabinho] first arrived he was probably guilty of trying the odd wonder pass too often,” he told the Racing Post.
“He was trying too hard but Jurgen Klopp is the kind of manager who would have said to him: do this job for me and I’ll pick you every week.
“And that’s exactly what he’s doing. His awareness of danger is fantastic. He and N’Golo Kante at Chelsea are the two best players in the Premier League playing that role and he’s definitely one of the final pieces in Jurgen Klopp’s jigsaw.”
Kante helped turn Chelsea into Premier League contenders again, and nobody can deny his class, so it’s quite the compliment from McAteer.
Fabinho takes on such an important role in Klopp’s team – he’s the anchor, and without him we would not have as much solidity in our midfield.
The Brazilian’s defensive awareness and eye for a pass makes him an invaluable member of our team, and just how Kante helped Chelsea in the Premier League, Fabinho has undoubtedly helped us in Champions League.
I wonder if Kante fancies playing alongside Fab? 😉
