Man Utd desperate to beat LFC to Timo Werner signing in January – report

Manchester United are desperate to sign Timo Werner in January, under the noses of fierce rivals Liverpool, according to reports.

The German has been linked with a move to the two most successful clubs in England, but it seems there’s going to be a tug of war for his services.

According to the Mirror, United are hoping to beat the Reds to the signing of the forward, but it’s been reported by Ian McGarry that the player would prefer Anfield over Old Trafford.

But a move to United may be considered a little more by the forward, as he’d be given more first team opportunity, whereas at Liverpool he’d be used as a back-up for Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Bobby Firmino.

Bayern Munich previously had a disagreement with Leipzig in terms of how much they value Werner – via Bild, his current club consider him worth around £50million whereas the German champions did’t want to spend more than £20million.

The striker is being tipped to stay with Leipzig for the remainder of the season, but if the current circumstance is to be believed then Jurgen Klopp may see an opportunity.

The Mirror also report that Werner has a buy-out clause in his new contract with Leipzig which can be activated with a bid of £27million.
