Liverpool are officially the best team in the world as Reds top Euro Club Index for the first time

Liverpool have topped the Euro Club Index rankings for the first time, moving ahead of Manchester City and Barcelona, who occupy the places below the Reds.

When Jurgen Klopp first arrived at Anfield, the Reds were ranked 27th, while they were as low as 37th midway through Brendan Rodgers’ first campaign at the club.

Bayern Munich and Juventus occupy fourth and fifth place respectively in the rankings which have been worked out since 2007.

It is not clear exactly what the parameters are for working out the rankings, but clearly, as Champions of Europe, the Reds were always going to be doing quite well.

Manchester United are ranked at number 11 in the survey, which suggests off-field success plays a fairly hefty role. That is going well for the Reds at the current time, too, and is predicted to improve even further next season when Nike will be manufacturing the kits.

Meanwhile, in the most important aspect, the Reds keep winning on the pitch and will hope to continue that run against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
