Klopp hits back at Pep with tactical foul jibe ahead of Sunday’s Anfield clash

The tie between Liverpool and Manchester City on Sunday is already shaping up to a mouthwatering one.

The Reds are six points clear after 11 games – but that deficit could be cut to three by the end of the weekend if Pep Guardiola’s team ends our unbeaten Anfield run.

The Spaniard fired shots at Liverpool and Sadio Mane following his team’s victory over Southampton at the weekend, which incensed Jurgen Klopp.

Our boss tried to remain calm about it, but couldn’t help drop a subtle dig about City’s tactical fouls – something Guardiola encourages from his players when opponents have the ball.

“I couldn’t really believe it to be honest and then I saw it. I am not sure if Pep spoke in that moment about Sadio or the team – both is not too nice to be honest,” Klopp told the Telegraph. “I am not too sure if I want to put oil on the fire. I am not interested in these kind of things. And I promise not to mention tactical fouls.”

Liverpool face Genk this evening in the Champions League – and you can tell how big the tie on Sunday is that nobody is really thinking about the Belgians!

We should comfortably beat them, though – especially based on what happened two weeks ago at their place.

Klopp will likely rotate his squad, with Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joe Gomez and Divock Origi primed to start.

Hopefully we can secure a win nice and early, sub our big guns and start focussing on City – who have a midweek trip to Italy on Wednesday.
