LFC target Havertz drops exit hint: ‘I can go abroad at any moment’

Bayer Leverkusen prodigy Kai Havertz is pushing for a Bundesliga exit, it seems – likely at the end of this season.

The Liverpool target, who was linked to us as recently as October by Goal, has forged a wonderful reputation for himself in his homeland over the past two years.

Havertz scored 20 goals in total last season – an extraordinary tally considering he played much of his football in midfield, and some just off the forward.

“I think I’ve picked up enough international experience at Leverkusen,” the 20-year-old told Marca.

“I know the rhythm of these international matches and I’m confident that I can go abroad at any moment and play at clubs outside of Germany.

“For the moment, I want to have a good season. Afterwards, we’ll see.”

Havertz is the kind of creative midfielder many Liverpool fans would adore pulling strings for us, much in the mould Coutinho did before his exit.

But his potential price-tag would surely be enormous and we’re not actually sure he directly fits in Jurgen Klopp’s tactical setup right now.

The boss demands workman-like midfielders in the ilk of Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and Fabinho – who are tactically disciplined and cover for our marauding fullbacks.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson wouldn’t enjoy the success they currently do if it wasn’t for the work of the central three – although Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has proven with his four goals in four games that there may be room for at least one driving force to complement them.
