Mbappe’s father could be thorn in rumoured Liverpool move

The internet has been awash with the suggestion that Kylian Mbappe could be signed by Liverpool in summer 2020, as the club embarks on its mega new kit contract with Nike.

#Mbappe2020 has become a popular internet trend and pops up on Twitter every day.

Eldesmarque, a Spanish outlet whose reliability we cannot confirm, says the Reds have made the Frenchman a priority for next season.

They also claim that he could become the planet’s highest paid player and that Mo Salah could depart for Real Madrid to allow him a spot in the side – which makes us believe the whole story has been conjured rather than researched – in truth.

There’s plenty of reasons why Mbappe to Liverpool would be nigh-on impossible: for example the expected wages which would completely shatter our current well-managed structure.

Something that hasn’t been mentioned is the player’s father, who is also his agent.

Back in 2018, Der Spiegel explained how Wilfried Mbappé made ludicrous demands of PSG during contract negotiations – including a set number or required private jet hours, him being allowed into PSG’s training sessions and a paid for bodyguard, driver and caretaker.

Jurgen Klopp has absolutely no time for these shenanigans and has only ever signed humble footballers for Liverpool who are not under the influence of nosy agents and family members.

For example, he will not deal with Mino Raiola and cancelled the Nabil Fekir deal due to greediness and extra demands from the player’s brother-in-law at the last minute, according to Fekir’s former agent Jean-Pierre Bernes [Mirror].

This is why we think Jadon Sancho is a more realistic possibility. He has been linked countlessly, such as here in the Guardian and would be a cheaper alternative in terms of both fee and wages.

For now though, we have a title to focus on!
