Former Brazil star Ronaldinho has lavished Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino with praise, labelling him ‘world-class’, while he has described midfielder Fabinho as being a ‘champion’.

The ex-Barcelona man will have plenty of interest in the huge clash against Manchester City tomorrow afternoon, with other Brazilians likely to be featuring including Alisson and Fernandinho.

Ederson would have played but he is expected to be missing through an injury, as Pep Guardiola confirmed on Friday in his pre-match press conference.

Ronaldinho spoke about Firmino to The Guardian, saying: “He has become a very experienced and valued player for Brazil. This is also the case for Liverpool. A world-class forward who always gives everything he has. Plays football with a big smile – I like this.”

On Fabinho, he added: “I have the utmost respect for this guy because he is still quite young but has achieved a lot playing for many clubs in Brazil and in Europe. A champion with Liverpool and a very important player for them, too.”

For a top-class star like Ronaldinho to have spoken with such enthusiasm about not one, but two, Reds men shows the level Jurgen Klopp’s players are at right now.

Firmino is one of the top number nines in the game and Fabinho is probably the best holding midfielder in the world.

Both will be absolutely crucial at Anfield from 4:30pm UK time tomorrow with perhaps the biggest game of the season to be played. Win, of course, and the Reds will be going nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
