Liverpool ready for Caoimhin Kelleher to go out on loan in January

Young Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is regarded highly at the club, but with Alisson and Adrian sitting ahead of him in the pecking order, it’s rare that he gets a chance.

And now it’s being reported by the Liverpool Echo that Jurgen Klopp is keen to give the Irishman a chance away from the club to get some more playing time.

Local side Preston North End, according to the same Echo report, are said to be interested in the services of the young Reds goalie – and I’d hazard a guess that they’re not the only club.

He did get chances against MK Dons and Arsenal recently, so there are definitely still opportunities that the boss will afford him, but they hardly come thick and fast.

Kelleher is likely to be named in our team against Aston Villa in the next round of the League Cup, with Liverpool’s more senior players certain to travel to Qatar for the FIFA Club World Cup next month.

The Irishman’s long-term future at Anfield is uncertain, with Kamil Grabara also due back at the club in the summer. Surely we’d have to stick or twist on one of the young stoppers – not to mention Shamal George too!
