Klopp sends message to Roberto Martinez, who was at Anfield on Wednesday

Jurgen Klopp believes Divock Origi should get regular minutes for Belgium, especially following his brace against Everton on Wednesday evening.

The Reds pumped our Merseyside rivals 5-2 with Origi opening the scoring and adding a second that is probably a Goal of the Season contender.

Former Everton manager Roberto Martinez manages Belgium now, and Klopp pointed out that the international boss may now pay more attention to Div.

“I was happy Mr Martinez was in the stadium to see it because when he goes away with the national team he never plays a second,” Klopp told a press-conference today, cited in Reuters.

We’d have thought Klopp would prefer his players to get as few minutes for their countries as possible, to keep them fresh for Liverpool – but clearly not!

In fairness, that probably applies to our automatic starters – but not with the rotation players like Origi who the boss wants to keep sharp and in-form.

Despite his performance at the weekend, we think Origi may return to the bench for the trip to Bournemouth on Saturday lunchtime – with Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino likely desperate for a return after sitting out the Everton win.

That being said, we have Rb Salzburg away next week and need a result, so Klopp may choose to hold back some big guns for that one.
