Liverpool to reward impressive Sepp van den Berg with new contract – report

Liverpool are reportedly set to reward young centre half Sepp van den Berg with a new contract, less than a year after he signed his first for the Reds.

The Dutch teenager has impressed Jurgen Klopp, as per Football Insider, and the boss wants to offer him a new deal to secure him at the club.

He’s only made two appearances for the senior team at Liverpool thus far – against MK Dons and Arsenal, the latter of which he partnered Joe Gomez which could be a peak into the future.

Sepp was signed last summer from FC Zwolle for a fee of £1.3million and it now appears that Klopp is keen to make sure he doesn’t get taken away from the club after impressing behind the scenes.

It’s almost a certainty that the centre half will play against Aston Villa in the Cup for the Reds – and it’ll be another chance for him to prove his worth to the senior team.

At the moment, van den Berg is representing the U19s at Liverpool, but he’ll surely be eyeing up the bench for the senior team for next season.

He’ll have competition though, with players like Ki Jana Hoever, Adam Lewis, Yasser Larouci and Neco Williams all desperate to make the jump themselves.
