James Pearce has claimed on Twitter that it is ‘highly likely’ Takumi Minamino will sign for Liverpool in January.
The Rb Salzburg playmaker will cost just £7.25m because of a release-clause in his contract that the Reds are set to activate.
According to the Athletic reporter Pearce, the fact that Manchester United, along with a host of Serie A and Bundesliga clubs were interested, encouraged Liverpool into making the winter move.

Minamino looked brilliant in the two Champions League games against us this season, and is expected to become the third former Salzburg player in our squad alongside Sadio Mane and Naby Keita.
If he’s half as good as the former, we’ll be in for a treat!
Liverpool only signed Adrian on a free transfer in the summer and nobody last January, so it’s quite exciting to see a genuine first-team option set for Anfield.
We have no idea where Jurgen Klopp plans to deploy him yet, or how, but another attacking option will be fantastic going into the second half of the season.
