(Video) Carra’s fascinating analysis of Trent is spot on; suggests full-back isn’t to blame for shaky form

Jamie Carragher has been a staunch defender of Trent Alexander-Arnold amid criticism the Liverpool star has come under after being left out of England’s most recent squad.

In a disagreement with Gary Neville, Carra said the idea of not taking Trent to the Euros this summer is “embarrassing” as the Scouser the best right-back option.

Speaking on the negatives of Alexander-Arnold’s game, Carragher critiqued the Liverpool defender’s positional play and 1v1s, but explained Jurgen Klopp asks his players to do things other managers wouldn’t, with high pressing being the premier point.

  1. Utter crap. Klopp doesn’t ‘ask’ TAA to be dribbled out like a school boy or misjudge his headers so badly to put it on a plate for opponents, nor does he ask him to cross 80% of his attempts into the first defender. I’m also quite sure that even though he is an attacking RB he is not asked to forget his positioning and leave a boulevard on his side. Common. This is down to the player. What is really troubling is that we now get to see who TAA really is as a RB.. he was made to look far better by two super fast CBs in VVD and Gomez who covered for his absence as a true RB.. not to mention the incredible sense of anticipation and positioning by VVD who simply sniffs danger before it happens. Also, as a last resort how many times we have seen Hendo run and challenge like a mad dog on our right side to cover for TAA. Without even him, TAA is lost at sea… this is our true reality at this moment..
