Liverpool star Fabinho has been handed a new long-term contract extending his prior terms, which were set to expire in the summer of 2023.
This comes from The Athletic, with the Brazil international’s new deal set to extend his stay in Merseyside until 2026.
The former Monaco star has been a vital part of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team since signing from the Ligue 1 outfit in 2018, helping shore up the backline last term when an injury crisis ran riot across the backline.
It’s a well-deserved reward for a starter who has proven both versatile and world-class during his stay in Merseyside.
Having helped bring the best out of prior summer signing Thiago Alcantara when brought back into the midfield three, however, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for an injury-free season in the back four in order for the Brazilian to remain in his favoured position.
With Gini Wijnaldum having departed on a free, we’ll need our No.3 at his best to help solidify the midfield.
Though additions to the squad are certainly required, our first-team realistically is more than up to the challenge issued domestically and abroad by our heavyweight rivals.
