Liverpool-linked frontman with 13 goal contributions could ‘become a world-beater’, suggests ex-Red

Paul Stewart has suggested that Jarrod Bowen might be well-advised to remain at West Ham and continue his upward trajectory under David Moyes.

The Hammers star, who registered 13 goal contributions last term, has been linked with an Anfield switch to bolster Jurgen Klopp’s forward line following a report from The Athletic claiming the player is on the recruitment team’s list of potential targets.

“I’m not sure whether Jarrod should stay for another season at West Ham,” the former Liverpool star told the Transfer Tavern. Moyes did a great job there and will develop him, and who knows, he might become a world-beater, but at this time, I think he would be playing second fiddle to players in front of him, which sometimes can damage a player’s career.”

Following the poor form experienced by both Bobby Firmino and Sadio Mane, the Reds are thought to be keeping their eyes peeled for a new attacker to keep the front-three on their toes next season.

Though Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott (assuming the youngster isn’t loaned out again) would provide solid competition for places, there’s no questioning that a replacement for the likes for Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri is required.

While the latter redeemed himself to a certain degree with his performances during the European Championship, the pair’s failure to collectively register one league goal amidst both Mane and Firmino’s struggles in the 2020/21 campaign speaks volumes.

Though midfield is undeniably the priority in the summer window following Gini Wijnaldum’s exit, an additional move for a new forward would be well-advised if our finances can stretch that far.

Liverpool fans are baffled as to why the club hasn’t tried to hijack Arsenal’s move for a Bobby Firmino regen
