Harvey Elliott explains what life under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool is like and claims ‘he’s the best possible man for the job’

Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott has described Jurgen Klopp as a father figure and explained that the former Borussia Dortmund boss is the ‘best possible man for the job’.

The attacking midfielder hasn’t earned as many first-team minutes as he would’ve liked this season due to the horrific ankle injury suffered against Leeds at the beginning of the campaign, but the 18-year-old is now back to full fitness and ready to help the side’s quadruple attempts.

“The warmth that he brings, it’s a joke,” Elliott told the UMM YouTube channel (via the club’s official website).

“He is [a father figure]. You see it a lot, how he is with players, his players and how he interacts with the fans.

“He’s the best possible man for the job, I can say, and the best possible person to be learning off.”

The former Fulham man was recently named in the top five of GOAL’s NXGN awards which recognises the best up and coming footballing talents and earned more senior minutes in the 1-0 FA Cup defeat of Nottingham Forest last weekend.

Despite his injury setback, the 18-year-old has made 10 appearances for Klopp’s side this season and looks lively every time he does play.

The No. 67 had featured in all four of our opening top-flight games this term before that injury and looked set to be a regular starter in the three-man midfield that Klopp often selects.

He’s a creative player with an eye for a pass and quality shooting ability but he also works hard, which is imperative no matter what position you’re playing in at Liverpool.

Prior to his injury, he was creating a formidable partnership down the right-hand side with Trent Alexander-Arnold behind him and Mo Salah in front of him, and Elliott has described his two Anfield teammates as a ‘dream’ to play alongside.

Due to the fact we’re still in contention for another three trophies this term (to add to our Carabao Cup success), Klopp’s entire squad will be required in the coming weeks to ensure we finish the season as successfully as possible.

Let’s hope he can continue to work hard and take his chances whenever they come his way – at such a young age he has the potential to be a real star for the next decade at least.
