Trent Alexander-Arnold makes childhood Manchester United admission and urges his teammates and fans to ‘enjoy’ Liverpool’s current success

Trent Alexander-Arnold has admitted that when he was growing up he used to look at Manchester United and imagine what it would be like to be chasing silverware every season.

The Liverpool man is now living that dream with his boyhood club, but has urged both his teammates and fans to not ‘take for granted’ the success they’re experiencing at the moment.

“Growing up, I remember looking at Man United and thinking what it would be like to be them going for league titles every year, Champions League trophies every year,” Alexander-Arnold said on blockasset’s Block Party podcast (via the Metro).

“So to be able to do that now and be involved in it is something we can’t take for granted.

“I’ll use Man United as an example again, now, they’re probably thinking, “We shouldn’t have taken that sustained period of success for granted because now it seems like we’re far away from it”.

“For us fans and players, we can’t get complacent and just get used to it, we have to really still enjoy it and keep our expectations where they need to be. We’ve got to enjoy the game for as long as we can because it won’t last forever.”

The Liverpool No. 66 has won every major trophy possible under Jurgen Klopp and he’ll be attempting to get his hands on the European Cup for the second time this weekend when the Merseysiders face Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Paris.

If the Reds are to taste success, they’ll have won Europe’s premier competition for a whopping seven times, drawing level with AC Milan and remaining behind only Madrid who have 13.

The unbelievable levels that Klopp’s side have reached in recent seasons really shouldn’t be taken for granted.

He’s worked wonders since arriving at Anfield in 2015 and Liverpool are now recognised as the best team in the world by many.

After Liverpool face the La Liga outfit on Saturday, it will mean the Reds will have played every single game possible this season.

They’ve picked up the Carabao Cup and FA Cup so far, ran Manchester City to the final day of the Premier League season before losing the title to them by a single point, and can of course pick up their third trophy of the season at the weekend.

No matter what happens in the French capital, everyone should be proud of this special side for what’s been yet another memorable season for the famous Kopites.
