Liverpool Players: Best FIFA Ratings

Posted by

Liverpool players have always tended to score highly in the annual FIFA ratings. That is particularly true of the squad in the Jurgen Klopp era, as he has motivated players to perform at levels they would scarcely have dreamed of before joining the club.

That trend towards good scores has continued with the launch of the FIFA ratings for 2023. The stats for Liverpool players mostly make for pleasing reading at the end of a frustrating season and a useful reminder of how many great players the club has.

In this article we will look at which players from the current Liverpool team secured the best scores in this year’s FIFA ratings.

What are the FIFA Ratings?

The FIFA ratings are a way of ranking the performances of players in top leagues around the world, based on a range of more than 30 different stats. Some of those stats are the same for all players while others vary depending on what position in the team a player is.

These ratings are important in terms of classifying the top players and for determining which stars are in the FIFA 23 game. Some fans are sceptical of the methodology, but the FIFA video game is up there with the football themed online slots as the most popular one, so everyone pays attention to the ratings when they are released.

Liverpool fans will be interested to know which of the club’s players managed to get the highest FIFA ratings. The results will probably not be that much of a surprise to those who watch the games though.

Three of them made it into the top 23 players.

Mo Salah
The lethal Reds striker has an overall FIFA 2023 rating of 89, with a potential rating of 90. The Egyptian goal machine was the most valuable gold card player for the FIFA Ultimate Team in the 2022 ratings and he maintained that strong position this year.

Salah has had some struggles this season, mainly in the first half of it, but it must be remembered that the FIFA ratings came out last September and so the 2021/22 season stats are more relevant. Given his improved form in the second half of the season, Salah may again rank among the top players when the 2024 ratings are released, but that is not likely to be the case with some of the others.

Virgil van Dijk
Another player who saw his rating rise was Virgil van Dijk. That is totally understandable given his commanding performances at centre back in that period.

The 10-game unbeaten run that saw Liverpool push Manchester City all the way to the final day for the title would have been unthinkable without van Dijk in the heart of the defence. He has an overall rating of 88 and a potential one of the same, but there is no question that his performance level has dropped.

Part of that is down to injury problems but he has made positional and other basic errors when on the pitch this season that have cost Liverpool points. That is likely to be reflected in the 2024 FIFA ratings.

Alisson
The other member of the top 23 in this year’s Liverpool FIFA ratings is goalkeeper Alisson on 89. The Brazilian is generally regarded as one of the finest ‘keepers in the world and has been an important player in helping Klopp’s side go from contenders to actual trophy winners.

He has had to do a lot more this season, as the midfield and defence have often left him alarmingly exposed, but his performances have stayed at an elite level.

Other players that are ranked high include defenders Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander Arnold, on 87 each, and midfielder Thiago with 86. Some of them will see a fall in their FIFA ratings next time out, with Alexander Arnold in particular having suffered a real loss of form this season.

How Can People Get These Liverpool Players in FIFA 23?

Anyone that is playing FIFA 23 can potentially get these players by using the game mode ‘Ultimate Team’. This allows for the construction of a personalised dream squad of players that could include the likes of Salah and Alisson.

It is necessary to play matches in FIFA 23 so that FUT coins can be earned for use in buying chosen players in the game’s transfer market. The matches that have to be played are against custom teams constructed by rival gamers that will also be likely to contain players from Liverpool and other teams that have very high FIFA ratings (via liverpoolworld.uk).

The FIFA ratings mean that Liverpool stars will be in great demand in the FIFA game again this year and non-fans will want to feature them in their custom-built teams.
