FSG remain in full support of Arne Slot despite Liverpool’s turbulent 2025/26 campaign, reports Paul Joyce.

The Merseysiders currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League table and are still likely to secure Champions League football if they can manage to drop any further.

That’s thanks to the extra Champions League spot the English top-flight is currently set to be awarded based on England’s coefficient ranking.

FSG continue to back Arne Slot as Liverpool head coach

The powers that be behind the scenes are not of the view that Slot got lucky with Liverpool’s title win last term.

As such, the club’s decision-makers are of the mind that there are mitigating factors to consider before making a definitive decision about the man in the dugout.

Right now, their position is that they want the former Feyenoord boss to ’emerge from the turbulence’.

“There are some Premier League clubs, where the pain threshold is lower, who might have already swung the axe. FSG remain steadfastly behind Slot and want him to emerge from the turbulence,” Joyce reported for The Times.

While the final leg of the season feels important, FSG do not believe lightning simply struck last term. The prevailing view is that Slot was crucial to the league title and that the head coach with a track record of success has not just disappeared.

“This has been a season of, at times, unprecedented challenges, beginning with the death of Diogo Jota in a car crash. If underlying issues are resolved, gaps in the squad ironed out, then FSG would expect the Dutchman to reassert himself.”

How difficult that decision is increasingly becoming, however, amid ongoing poor results domestically remains to be seen.

And with well-respected candidates like Xabi Alonso waiting in the wings, there’s a growing case for Liverpool to pull the plug on Slot this summer.

Liverpool have gone beyond mitigating factors

It feels incredibly harsh on the Dutchman, given all he’s already achieved at the club.

But we’ve yet to witness that spark of improvement, which promises that things will drastically improve next term.

Yes, of course, there is an argument to be made that handing over the right tools will enable Arne Slot to get a stronger tune out of this Liverpool squad. After all, we’ve been missing a serious threat on the wings for the vast majority of the campaign. And it also has to be acknowledged that Liverpool’s defence would have likely fared somewhat better with the inclusion of Marc Guehi in the summer.

Even so, can any of us confidently say that the manager has made the absolute most of the tools at his disposal?

We desperately want Slot to succeed and prove his worth. We’d much rather see the Reds continue with a league-winning manager and give him the chance to figure things out.

But he’s had time and this Liverpool side still looks virtually unrecognisable from what came before.

At what point does it become negligent to keep Arne Slot in the role?

    1. Glass half empty? Slot didn’t have Nunez, Diaz, Trent or Jota (RIP). Isak injured almost immediately, Bradley bad injury. Not the best start to the season. He has to be allowed more time, then make a decision- if needed.

  1. Any signs of a bad start or boring drab football at the start of next season and the pressure will be immense. It will either be a stoke of genius or a complete disaster!

  2. Look at klopp when he had the defender crisis. He utilized rhys Williams and Nats Phillips and we got 3rd. It was entertaining football and fans appreciate it. Now we play boring football and we lose and draw. This is the difference. If the owners still cannot visualize this due to their non football background, this is really sad for Liverpool football club.

  3. I am fsgout but fucking fsg john williams henry and thomas or tom werner basterds dickheads to sell up for myself and ourself own Liverpool FC of but if £8 Billions Pounds or maybe myself and ourself own Liverpool FC sale value is a alright £4.5 Billions Pounds on agree with Anfield Agenda Channel of about fsg sell up to Youtube too ok

    1. Glad you have no say they sanctioned £420M signings most fans rubbing their hands with glee me not our defence needed a major overhaul yet we sugn a teenager. Fsg have given us klopp Salah Bobby , Mane , Allison and much more so support the club not players or a manager who seem incapable of winning .

  4. We have gone backwards because of the decisions of clueless owners FSG.
1 didn’t back klopp it was in his new contract that he would get the funds to rebuild. So he walked away.

2 The appointment of Richard Hughes has been a total shambles.

3 Hughes gives FSG a 64 page dossier bragging up a Dutch manager who’s done nothing at the highest level. FSG bought it and it’s why we are in decline now.

4 Richard Hughes gets to decide who to buy and who to sell with a big 450 million warchchest. He has more say over transfers than a yes man manager in slot. The first mistake and the biggest with the sale of Diaz is just the start of a shambles of a transfer window.

5 450 million on lightweight players the manager blames the opposition for low blocks and set pieces for the decline. FSG sit back and do nothing as we decline into a third rate team under a third rate manager.

6 FSG raises ticket prices at Anfield. And there’s more raises to come.

Mismanagement at the highest level from charlatan owners FSG, who were carried by klopp. The club is making 700 million a season and we are in terminal decline.

    FSG OUT.

  5. They first went after Amorin but he declined , they also went after Alonso but he wanted Real Madrid so we end up with our third choice Slott . Who ever sanctioned £130M on Issak needs the boot , Whirtz in a cohesive team will thrive Ekitike is class so they are level on transfers .
I do agree if FSG had backed Klopp he might of stayed just imagine the squad he would of rebuilt with that money .
