Liverpool set to seal Mohamed Salah deal on Thursday

Liverpool fans could be treated to photos of Mohamed Salah performing that famous ‘Melwood lean’ as soon as Thursday with the Egyptian set to finalise his move to Anfield.

Weeks of lengthy negotiations are expected to materialise into a deal that will see the winger become Liverpool’s second signing of the summer and the club’s most expensive player of all time.

Salah is on Merseyside and will undergo his medical on Thursday ahead of a £39million move to Anfield, with the Reds preparing to pay £35million plus £4million in add-ons, according to the Liverpool Echo’s James Pearce.

The deal will undoubtedly be the first of many big-money arrivals in a summer transfer window where Jurgen Klopp will be going all out to dispose of the club’s record transfer kitty wisely and ensure he has a squad capable of mounting a serious title challenge next season.

Introducing Salah will not only bolster the team’s attacking strength in depth but also provide much-needed width and an additional source of the explosive pace and directness that saw Sadio Mane perfectly suited to Klopp’s setup in his first campaign at the club.

After completing Salah’s switch, Liverpool won’t hesitate to kick on with the rest of their business to ensure they are fully prepared for both their crucial Champions League play-off clash in August and the start of the Premier League season.

Uncertainty over proposed moves for Southampton defender and Virgil van Dijk and RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita means fans can expect to hear a number of new rumoured targets over the next few weeks.

For now, though, they can, if things go to plan, enjoy celebrating an exciting and potentially inspired signing.
