If Liverpool can keep a clean sheet in today’s match against Huddersfield, they will become the first Reds side ever to concede just three times in their opening nine league matches.

It just goes to show how far the defence has come this season, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez exceptional alongside Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Huddersfield have only scored four league goals so far this season, so they represent the perfect opponents to break the record. Dejan Lovren might have to come in depending on Van Dijk’s recovery, but that would not be a big concern.

The most important thing, of course, is getting the three points, but breaking a record along the way would be no bad thing.
