Liverpool defender confirms he’ll be battling young Reds star this season

Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson has confirmed that he will be fighting with Trent Alexander-Arnold once again this season as they look to out do one-another in the assists leader board.

Last season, Trent managed an unbelievable 12 assists in the Premier League while Robertson totted up an equally admirable 11.

Their contributions undoubtedly helped the Reds clinch their sixth Champions League title after beating Tottenham Hostpur in the final in Madrid.

The dynamic duo returned to first team training last weekend and the Scot has confirmed they’ll be going again in the upcoming season.

We’ve had a brief discussion over it. We’ll set it up again,Robertson told the club’s official website. “Probably too much was made of it but for me and Trent it brought the best out of us, the numbers we both produced.

Near the back end of the season he was unbelievable with the numbers he produced.

I feel it brought the best out of both of us. If we can do that and get similar numbers this season, of course it helps the team. That’s what both of us want to do.

But first and foremost we want to just put in the same performances we put in last season and try to kick on even further.

The Reds will be in action this weekend as they’re set to face Borussia Dortmund in the US as they kick off the next leg of their pre-season tour.

Liverpool are also in action in a couple of weeks against Lyon in what will surely result in a rebirth of the Nabil Fekir rumours if he hasn’t already moved on by then.
