Jurgen Klopp will come up against Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino, the Tottenham boss who his side beat in the Champions League final, in the Coach of the Year award.

The FIFA Men’s Player Award will be between Virgil van Dijk, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, just as the UEFA version of the award, which the Dutchman won last Thursday, was.

Of the eight FIFA Best Awards, Reds stars could qualify for four of them, with three for the women’s game, and one for fans. The only section a Reds man does not feature in when they are eligible is for the Puskas Award, which is for the best goal.

No other club has as many different representatives in the list as the Reds do.

Individual awards are not the main priority, it has to be said, but having so many players, and Klopp, up there amongst the best in the world right now is clearly a good thing.

The likes of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah are not on the list, but they too have been superb over the last few months. Long may it continue.
