The Day After!

The reactions that poured in yesterday after the dismal performance against West Ham saw the Liverpool supporters divided yet again: while one portion of fans felt utterly disgusted with the performance, the other train of thought merely brushed it off as ‘having a day off’ and that the Reds would come out of it stronger than ever before.

In reality both positions are in fact right! It was a very bad all round performance by the Reds, but there is no doubt that they will come out guns blazing at the next occasion, especially because the next occasion is a home game against Manchester United.

Many commented that it was nonsense to even consider the Reds to make 4th spot in the first place, but then the math did not and still does not make that goal impossible to achieve. So if it’s possible, should we not have a go as it? Others claimed that given our horrendous start to the season, we should not have high expectations and really look forward to next season. But that is what we said last season, no? Some said we should concentrate on going for silverware and concentrate on Europa League glory, but may I permit myself to remind everyone that we ended up 7th and with no silverware and if we apply that same attitude there is a very good chance it will happen…..again!

Apart from Suarez to a certain extent, no one survived the wrath of the fans’ anger and dismay, because in truth it may not be about getting the three points and keep on hoping for CL football, but the display, if we have to be honest with ourselves, was way below par to say the least. Many urged a summer clear-out, some urged the Club to push the risings stars faster into the team, while others simply hoped the Club will spend big come next transfer window.

Are we all behind Kenny Dalglish and Co? Of course we are! Have we suddenly lost faith in a new era? Of course not! Do we have a right to criticize the squad when they churn out such a shabby performance? Bloody right we do! Because it was not about West Ham having their game of the season, it was about us not playing one.

Work your magic Kenny!
