I’m ever so sorry for picking a 4-4-2 with Adam on the left (what was I thinking!), Henderson, Lucas and Downing. Downing I got right, but having a young lad and Defensive player in there, was a huge mistake.
As soon as we kicked off I knew we were done for, especially as Martin could not mark at right back, I should have stuck with Carra as the make shift.
This is what I should have done. For starters I should have gone with a 4-2-3-1, which would have Spearing (man marking play maker- Van der Fart) and Lucas (all round cover) as the two holding mids (away game against a decent attack!). Then Kuyt right, Adam center and Downing left, with little or large up front. Downing and Kuyt in close support up front and using width and Adam instructed to get in there too!
By the way for home games, I hope to use 4-1-3-2, obviously that’s a straight swap striker for Spearing, or whoever the man marker was!
