The Premier League season has just three games left to go. It’s been a difficult season for many reasons but a top four place remains within touching distance, while two cup semi-finals represent a decent return.

Philippe Coutinho has been hitting the headlines all year long, with his scoring of the first and making of the second against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday his latest in a long line of heroics.

But is he statistically our best players so far this season? Using date compiled from football analysis website Who Scored, we count down the Reds’ ten best stars so far this campaign…

10) Adam Lallana – 6.94

Started the season slowly after struggling with injuries. Enjoyed a positive start to 2015 as part of our unbeaten run before again being ruled out for over a month. Made his first start since early March against QPR and looked good. He’ll hope there’s more to come next season.

9) Dejan Lovren – 7.00

Struggled for form during the early part of the season, subsequently losing his place in the side to Mamadou Sakho. Was handed a long-awaited recall earlier this year and has done well since his return. There are still doubts over where he’ll be once the Frenchman has returned.

8) Daniel Sturridge – 7.01

Injuries have restricted him to just seven Premier League starts. He missed the first five months of the campaign with a succession of problems and now looks unlikely to play again this term due to a hip issue. Nonetheless, he’s scored five goals in all competitions – more than any other Reds striker.

7) Mamadou Sakho – 7.08

Started the season out of favour and out of the team. Returned to star alongside Martin Skrtel in our unbeaten start to 2015. Has been sorely missed since his latest injury, which has ruled him out since the FA Cup win over Blackburn Rovers. Will he walk straight back into the team?

6) Emre Can – 7.13

Has been a big find for Brendan Rodgers. After starting the season as a back-up midfielder he was called into action as an emergency defender, impressing as part of a new-look back three. Has recently been moved to right-back and has continued to look good.

5) Lucas Leiva – 7.14

Our record with the Brazilian in the team is far better than our record without him. He’s a master of the small things, mopping it up in front of the defence and starting the attacks. He remains extremely underrated and offers a lot more than meets the eye.

4) Jordan Henderson – 7.21

Our vice-captain has been playing well this season, with his performances earning him a new long-term contract just last month. The likely successor to Steven Gerrard in wearing the armband, the No. 14 will be looking to come into his own next season and prove he’s capable of big things.

3) Raheem Sterling – 7.30

It’s been a mixed season for the youngster who has seen his own form dip in recent weeks. He’s clearly missed playing alongside Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge but remains our joint-top scorer with 11 goals in all competitions, seven of them coming in the league.

2) Martin Skrtel – 7.30

The Slovakian has stepped up following the recent departures of experienced teammates Jamie Carragher (in 2013) and Daniel Agger (in 2014). He’s not scored the goals that he got so regularly last season but his defensive performances have been as accomplished as always.

1) Philippe Coutinho – 7.38

A magician. Many Premier League fans have questioned his recent PFA nominations and that’s because this a player you need to watch every single week. It’s the little things he does that are so special, surpassing his statistics alone. The team should be built around him moving forward.
