Liverpool yet again linked to Danish international

It’s a transfer rumour which seemingly pops up before every window opens, and Simon Kjaer has again been linked with an Anfield switch today…

The Metro link to Le Figaro’s report that the 26-year-old centre-back’s Ligue 1 side Lille are cash-strapped, and claim that they’ll be willing to sell their star defender to us as a result.

We’ve been shaky at the back on more than one occasion this season, and while a central midfielder and a striker arriving are bigger summer priorities, we could probably do with some defensive enforcements as well.

Kjaer is a decent player, and prides himself on his technical attributes. He’s very comfortable with the ball at his feet, and enjoys a fruitful relationship with Daniel Agger at the heart of the Danish defence too.

He’s a good tackler too, but isn’t the most physically impressive, which could be a problem in the Premier League.

Kjaer would though provide stiff competition for Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho at the back. Skrtel is an automatic starter, but neither of the other two have cemented the other spot beside him this season.
