Liverpool transfer news

If you’re looking for a piece about why Coutinho has been our best player or why Henderson’s strike against Manchester City can’t be beat, then this isn’t for you, but if you want to remember all the best antics from a season that has provided plenty of funny moments, then please read on!

Hardest Moment – Jordan Henderson (vs Chelsea)

Ouch! You wouldn’t want to be Diego Costa here, would you? For this brilliant moment, we have to go back to our League Cup semi-final from back in January. The Spanish international left that evening with very few friends still remaining, having appeared to stamp on both Emre Can and Martin Skrtel, while his actions drew this reaction from our ice-cold vice-captain.

Best Original Song – Diego Costa, the Elephant Man (vs Chelsea)

The next time we met Diego Costa, we were ready for him. The Liverpool fans came up with this brilliant, if slightly predictable chant, decreeing the Brazilian-born attacker to be none other than the Elephant man. Who would have guessed it? To all your faithful Kopites, we tip our hats in admiration.

Best Reaction to a New Contract – Steven Gerrard (for Kolo Toure)

The Liverpool players have also been in good voice this season. These scenes came just hours after a 6-1 defeat to Stoke City, but you wouldn’t have guessed it considering the delight etched across each and every face. Steven Gerrard can be seen leading the party, as our entire squad celebrates Toure’s recent one-year contract extension.

Best Interview Answer – Steven Gerrard (vs Chelsea)

Gerrard scoops a second award here for his brilliant response to the Chelsea supporters. The Liverpool captain was afforded a standing ovation by the Stamford Bridge faithful as he was substituted during the game against the Blues earlier this month, but our iconic midfielder barely even blinked an eyelid. Asked about the response after the match, he simply responded: “It’s nice of them to turn up for once today. What’s important is the support from the Liverpool fans, they’ve been with me from day one.” – YES STEVIE!

Worst PR video – Lucas and Jose Enrique

Every good Premier League clubs will capture a few of the ‘funny’ behind the scenes moments and share them with the world, making their players seems more human and relatable (or something like that…). Unfortunately, it somewhat backfired here as Lucas instantly associated the words ‘best manager’ with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho… sorry, Brendan.

Most Frustrating Moment – Mario Balotelli’s Charity Match goal

There’s nothing like having our noses rubbed in it. Having bemoaned the Italian all season long, he produced this moment of magic in a CHARITY GAME – what the hell Mario?! Why don’t you do this every week? Unfortunately, the 24-year-old only managed four goals in all competitions this season – not including the one below – with only one of those coming in the Premier League, against Tottenham back in February.

Awkward Moment of the Year – Daniel Sturridge & Raheem Sterling (vs Burnley)

We know everyone has been a bit fed-up with Raheem Sterling of late, but this really seemed a bit much from Daniel Sturridge… fancy scoring a goal and then just ignoring your teammate completely. Sad times for our contract rebel extraordinaire!

Table Tennis Award – Javier Manquillo

We’ve all grown thoroughly sick of Jose Enrique’s table tennis updates this season. At one point, we were getting them daily on four different social media websites. Thankfully, Manquillo saw sense and just broke the table!

Best Hairstyle – Emre Can

Look at him… in all his glory. This is after a game! And yet not a single hair out of place. Slick, professional and always completely perfect. Emre Can, we salute you.

Celebration of the Season – Alberto Moreno & Daniel Sturridge

Was there ever going to be another winner? Who could forget this brilliant moment during our FA Cup win over Crystal Palace. Let’s hope we see this dance a few more times next season!
