Martin Odegaard is reportedly hoping for a phone call from Jurgen Klopp this summer.
Odegaard, who rejected a move to Liverpool in favour of the Spanish side in January 2015 when he was just 16, is expected to be sent out on loan by Madrid during the next couple of weeks.
Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg are his most likely destinations (via Mail).
It’s thought Madrid would favour a Bundesliga move; Borja Mayoral is on loan at Wolfsburg and Omar Mascarell is at Eintracht Frankfurt, while current first teamer Dani Carvajal also benefited from a spell in Germany during his developmental stage.
However, it’s understood the next best thing would be working under a German coach, and Klopp fits the bill perfectly.
Whether or not we should be signing an albeit talented 17-year-old rather than using our own kids is questionable – but it’s an interesting link.
